Coroner: Grandview Heights Murder Victim Stabbed Multiple Times
COLUMBUS (Ken Hines) -- A young Grandview Heights mother who was found murdered inside her apartment Sunday night had been stabbed multiple times, according to the Franklin County Coroner.
Dr. Jan Gorniak released limited information on Monday after her office's examination of the body of Jennifer L. Cooke. The 35-year old was found dead in an upstairs bedroom of her Woodhill Dr. home by Grandview Heights police officers who entered the apartment after receiving a phone call from a concerned neighbor.
Grandview Heights police, along with Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification agents, gathered bags of evidence from Cooke's apartment on Monday. Investigators believe a robbery may have occurred inside the home prior to the discovery of Cooke's body.
"We will find out who did this, and justice will be done," friend Holly Hahn said. "[Cooke] was a wonderful mother, a beautiful person. She was a member of our family."
Cooke was the mother of a 10-year-old child. Cooke's friend are rallying together trying to get a collection for the young girl. They say Cooke's daughter is in need of school clothing and supplies.
No one can get inside Cooke's apartment. It's still roped off by crime scene tape. So, no one can get the little girl's belongings.
Jennifer Cooke also worked at OSU's Wexner Medical Center at the time of her death. Hospital officials released the following statement after learning of her passing:
"We were shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the death of Jennifer Cooke. Jennifer joined The Ohio State University family in October 2010 and, since March 2013, worked as a clinical research data coordinator in the Hematology Division of the OSU Wexner Medical Center.
"Anyone with information regarding the investigation into her death should contact the Grandview Heights Police Department at (614) 488-3157."
