Investigators Continue to Probe Elderly Chillicothe Man's 2011 Murder

CHILLICOTHE (Steve Levine/Ken Hines) -- The family of an elderly Ross County murder victim continues to wait for justice nearly two years after their loved one's death.

The body of Harry Smith, 89, was found inside his Chillicothe home by family members in October, 2011. Relatives were initially told by Ross County sheriff's investigators the World War II vet had committed suicide.

We knew it wasnt possible, and we knew he would never do anything like that, family spokesperson Andrea Smith said.

Smiths son hired an investigator to look into the suspicious death, which was ruled a homicide eight months later by the Montgomery County Coroner. The murder probe is now being handled by Ohios Bureau of Crimes and Investigations (BCI).

Its been almost two years, and we are still looking for answers," Andrea Smith said. "We are not going to sit back and let it go away."

BCI officials are not releasing any information about the case because of its status as an open investigation.

Anyone with information about the murder is is asked to call BCI at 1-855-224-6446.
