Music Festival Sunday Honoring Grandview Heights Mom Found Stabbed to Death

GRANDVIEW HEIGHTS (Tara Morgan) -- Friends of a young mother found stabbed to death in her apartment are planning a benefit music festival in her honor.

Jennifer Cooke was found with several stab wounds nearly two weeks ago when police went to her home to see if she was okay after a neighbor found her door open.

Cooke's ex-husband is a person of interest.

Cooke's friends have been planning a music festival in her memory at the Grandview Heights library.

Friends say Cooke loved live music and was known to go to the library's summer concert series.

"We're healing and we're finally moving toward something positive and something we can celebrate which was her life and the way she chose to live her life," said close friend and neighbor, Za Unitt.

The event is called Lady of the Lake Fest.

"Lady of the Lake is a character that Jennifer really identified with in fact she was getting the Lady of the Lake tattoo on her leg," said Unitt.

The event is Sunday, August 25th, from noon to 6 P.M. outside the Grandview Heights Public Library, where Cooke was a regular with her 10 year old daughter.

It's a free, family friendly event and fundraiser.

Donations will be accepted at the event and will go toward the Jennifer Cooke Memorial Fund to help pay for funeral expenses and care for Cooke's daughter.

Bands include: The McIans, Donna Magavero, Billy Zenn & Pat Buzzard, C LA C I, Kyle Sowash, MillerKelton, Mike Wilson, doctah X, So Hard, and ECC.

There will be a silent auction as well as activities for children and food vendors.

Cooke's friends are also raising money for a memorial bench and plaque to be placed outside the Grandview Heights Library.
