Robbery Suspect Shoots Security Guard at Easton Area Walmart

COLUMBUS (Kellie Hanna) -- Robbery detectives are investigating a shooting at the Walmart store in Northeast Columbus.

Robbery detectives have arrested 29-year-old Terrance Blake in connection to this shooting.

Gerald Wheeler, security guard for Easton Square, is in the hospital after being shot in the chest about 1:30 a.m.

Police say there was some type of fight in the parking lot of the Walmart at 3900 Morse Road at Stelzer Road near Easton.

Wheeler was taken to Grant Medical Center in critical condition.

Police chased the suspect from the scene after they say he stole the security truck.

They say it was easy to follow him because of a flashing yellow light on the top of the truck he left on while he was driving.

They stopped him at Argyle and Vendome, but he was uncooperative at the scene.  Police say they recovered a gun in the Blake's lap when they got him stopped.

The victim has been upgraded to serious condition after being transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Blake is in the Franklin County Jail and is charged with aggravated robbery, but he may face more charges.
