Mansfield Police Investigate Three Attempted Child Abductions

MANSFIELD (Ken Hines) -- Police are investigating a rash of attempted child abductions that allegedly occurred over a recent four day period.

The latest incident occurred on N. Main St. on Friday morning, when an unidentified man grabbed a 17-year-old boy after the teen refused the suspect's offer of a ride, according to the Mansfield News Journal.

The teen suffered minor injuries while struggling with the suspect, but was able to fight off the would-be abductor.

Attempted abductions also occurred on Central Ave. and Woodville Road. The first incident was reported on August 12.

The suspect in each of the attempted abductions was described as a white male with a thin build, approximately 35 to 55 years old. One of the would-be victims told police the suspect had a dark mustache at the time of the abduction attempt.

Three vehicles have been linked to the crimes, including a white four-door car, dark blue van, and blue four-door pickup truck.

Anyone with information about the suspect and/or alleged abductions is encouraged to contact the Mansfield Police Department at 419-522-1234 or Sgt. Doug Noblet at 419-755-9764.
