Loved Ones Searching for Answers After in Death of Columbus Woman Found on I-71

COLUMBUS (Lu Ann Stoia/Ken Hines) -- Friends of a woman whose body was found on a central Ohio highway are hoping for answers as police work to determine the circumstances surrounding the young mother's death.

The body of Jessica Lyn Nichols was struck by several vehicles while lying on I-71 Northbound Wednesday morning. Investigators do not yet know how Nichols's body ended up on the highway.

Nichols's close friend, Nancy Skelton, has pleaded for information from anyone who may be able to shed light on the 22-year old's death.

Even the smallest thing would help. Even if its a an accident, please let us know," Skelton said. "If not, I hope you never have a night of sleep.

Skelton does not believe Nichols -- a mother of two -- took her own life.

Columbus Division of Police Sgt. Brooke Wilson said investigators are watching Ohio Department of Transportation video and interviewing potential witnesses in an effort to determine what led to Nichols's death.

Anyone with any information about the young woman's death is encouraged to call the Columbus Division of Police Accident Investigation Line at 614-645-4767.

Friends and family members are planning a Saturday afternoon memorial service to honor Nichols.
