Dispute over Dog Turns Violent in West Columbus

COLUMBUS (Ken Hines) -- A dispute over a dog left one West Side woman behind bars and another injured by a stun gun Tuesday night.

Dalelouise Price is charged with robbery after allegedly shooting Mary Johnson with a stun gun while attempting to steal a dog from Johnson's Sullivant Ave. property.

Johnson told police she found Price petting her rottweiler, Knuckles, in her backyard. Price allegedly told Johnson that the dog belonged to another person.

When Johnson refused to hand the dog over, she claims Price enlisted the help of four people in an attempt to take the animal by force.

"They wrestled with me, trying to take the dog away from me, and I wasn't about to let the dog go," Johnson said. "The one lady hit me, and she hit me three times with a stun gun."

Police soon arrived at Johnson's home, where they arrested Price on a robbery charge. Her bail amount was set at $7500 Wednesday morning.

Johnson has returned the dog to its previous owner until she feels she can safely bring him back to her home.
