Father Held at Gunpoint, While Holding 6 Month-Old
COLUMBUS (James Jackson) -- A Central Ohio family is on edge tonight. They say two men broke into their home and one of them put a shotgun to a victim's head, while he was holding his baby.
Helena Miller and her fiance, Jimmy, were watching tv in the front room of their home, on East Columbus Street, when Miller says two men barged in the back door. Miller said, "He had a 12 gauge shotgun to my old man's face, while he was holding his daughter and said, 'give me everything you've got. Give me, where's the man with the Perc's?' He realized there was nobody there that had any pills so he said just give me the drugs and the money."
Six people were inside. Miller tells ABC 6 the gunmen forced everyone to empty their pockets. The second gunman also drew his pistol. Miller said, "One stayed in the kitchen with our roommate and held a gun to his side and told him not to move."
Patricia Miller, Helena's Aunt, says when the guys realized there was no money or drugs, they snatched her purse off of the kitchen table and ran out the back door and down the alley. She had brain surgery a couple months ago and relies on the medicine that was in her bag. Miller said, "I'll end up back in the hospital because my blood pressure will go real high."
For now, the Miller's are glad no one got hurt, after what they described as five minutes of terror. They're going to buy dead bolts for the doors, consider moving and never let their children out of their sight. Miller said, "Keep your eyes on your kids as much as possible. You never know what's going to happen."
If you know who the gunmen are, you can give Columbus Police a call. Family members say the men demanded Percocet pills. The victims told ABC 6 they did not know the suspects. This marks the third time someone has tried to rob the Miller home.
