Chillicothe Mayor Suspends Police Chief for Altercation with City Worker

CHILLICOTHE (Ken Hines) -- A central Ohio police chief has been suspended for one day after an altercation between the officer and a city employee.

Chillicothe Mayor Jack Everson suspended Chief Roger Moore for one day without pay on Friday, following an investigation into an incident involving Moore and Equal Employment Opportunities Director Tamra Lowe that occurred in March.

Lowe told the mayor she was threatened, intimidated, and bullied by Moore, who refused to leave her office when asked.

Lowe contacted the Chillicothe Police Department during the incident, leading to a call from Moore, during which the chief told a dispatcher to "disregard" Lowe's report.

Mayor Everson decided that, while Moore did not commit a crime during the altercation, his actions were indicative of insubordination and failure to carry out proper work directive.

Everson has investigated Moore on two previous occasions, one which involved a shouting match outside a bar, and another that occurred after Moore had been pulled over for speeding by a state trooper.
