Outraged Mom says Owners of Cheerleading Academy Put Kids in Danger

MARBLE CLIFF (Tara Morgan) -- Some parents are outraged after they say the owners of a cheerleading academy put their children in danger by practicing in a building under construction and without a proper permit.

Rock Solid Academy is renovating its new space on Cardigan Avenue off Dublin Road in the Village of Marble Cliff.

The Village of Marble Cliff says Rock Solid does not have an occupancy permit and therefore can not be in operation.

One mom says the owners told parents Monday it was safe to practice but then Wednesday hid the children from a building inspector.

"They knew they were doing something wrong they knew there wasn't a permit in place they knew nobody should be in the building," said the mom who asked not to be identified fearing backlash after telling her story.

ABC6/FOX28 went to Rock Solid to get answers and were met by construction crews who told us we were not allowed in because it was private property and a construction zone.

They did put us in touch with the Rock Solid owners, Debie and Joe Hague.

"There's so many different permits to be honest this really was just a mess up we weren't thinking," said Debie Hague.

The Hagues say they did not hide anyone from an inspector.

"We knew he was coming at that point I didn't know if we were allowed in there or not," said Debie Hague.

The owners say they're in the business for the children.

"At no time do I believe that any child was in any danger," said Joe Hague.

But the mom who came forward says they shouldn't be in business at all.

Marble Cliff says A Grandview Heights building inspector is looking into whether children were put in danger and would bring the concern up to the Grandview Heights police.
