Georgia Police Arrest Woman for 1987 Columbus Murder

COLUMBUS (Ken Hines) -- Police in Georgia have arrested a woman in connection with a murder that occurred more than two decades ago in Northeast Columbus.

Officers arrested Zina Roberson in Rome, Ga. on Thursday morning after interviews and evidence linked her to the murder of 77-year-old Anna Mae Florence, who was beaten to death with a telephone ago inside her Delavan Dr. home in 1987.

Investigators do not believe Roberson knew Florence before the murder, which is believed to have occurred during a robbery.

Roberson is charged with aggravated murder, and has refused extradition to Ohio. Columbus police will have to obtain a governor's warrant to begin the process of returning her to the state to face trial.

Roberson is expected to appear in a Georgia courtroom on Friday for a bond hearing.
