Two Semi Accidents Slow Traffic on Interstate 70
COLUMBUS (Jen French)Slippery roads may have caused two semi accidents on Interstate 70 early Saturday morning.
Interstate 70 eastbound was closed from 2:00 AM until 5:00 AM after a semi jackknifed near the Main Street exit. Police say the semi driver lost control around a curve and hit a concrete barrier. Officers say the driver is expected to be charged with failure to control.
Another semi crashed after 5:00 AM on Interstate 70 westbound near the Livingston exit. Police say the semi driver hit a guardrail and rolled into a ditch.
The driver was traveling from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to Dayton. While on Interstate 70 in Columbus, he told ABC 6/FOX 28 that he hit debris on the highway and was trying to avoid hitting other cars.
When there's something like that in the road, you don't want to swerve to avoid it because that put you in a worse spot, Lawrence Duinarski said, truck driver. When it popped the right tire, It brought it around and caused that side to skid and brought all that weight around."
Both east and westbound lanes of interstate 70 have reopened. Police also cited the second driver for failure to control.
