Man Stops Burglars From Breaking into Neighbor's Home
NORTH COLUMBUS (James Jackson) -- Neighbors are calling a central Ohio man a hero, after stopping three men from breaking into a home and holding one at gunpoint, until police got there. It happened on the 5400 block of Rockwood Court, around 1 Monday afternoon.
Brian Fielder just got home from work, when his neighbor rushed up to him, telling him there was trouble a few doors down. "She said that there was three suspicious characters next door. Trying to get into the neighbors house," Fielder said. Fielder tells ABC 6/FOX 28 they tried to get into the back window of the home.
Fielder didn't think twice and grabbed his gun. He says he chased the men down and caught up to one of the guys, until Columbus police showed up and arrested him. "The other two had cars parked in the next driveway over here and when they seen me go by, they dashed out and got away," Fielder said.
The woman, who lives at the home where the men tried to break in, came home shortly after the incident. She told ABC 6/FOX 28 she's thankful they didn't get inside and most of all, hurt her dog, Chase. Meanwhile, Fielder has a message for people who come to his neighborhood to cause problems. "I just want to let anybody know if they intend to come to our neighborhood for this kind of behavior, they will be dealt with," Fielder said.
Columbus police tell ABC 6/FOX 28 they did take a report about the incident. It's not clear if any other arrests have been made in the case.
