NORTH COLUMBUS (Jen French)A well-traveled mixed martial arts fighter is being remember after he died in a motorcycle crash.
25-year-old Cornelius Godfrey was always at the Ronin Training Center.
"This kid was a rock star. The kid was signing autographs in Wal-mart, Cory Minton said, MMA fighter.
"I mean if he was getting ready for a fight he'd be here 5 days a week, Luke Zachrich said, MMA coach.
Godfrey stayed late for practice on Wednesday September 4th. That night, he rode his motorcycle to Hamiltons Pub, but never came home. Police said he hit a guardrail.
That night, Godfreys wife Brittany became worried. She tracked him with a smart phone app and found his remains off of N. Hamilton Road the next morning.
Godfrey got married three weeks before the accident. The two have a one year old daughter together.
"New father. Baby girl at home. New wife. Everything, Zachrich said.
His teammates at the Ronin Training Center in Grandview held a fundraiser for his family Sunday. They hope to start a college fund for his daughter.
