OSU Student Tied Up During Home Invasion
COLUMBUS (Tara Morgan/Joe Stoll) -- Police are looking for the suspects who broke into a student's off-campus house, tied her up and robbed her at gun point.
It happened at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday on the 100 block of W. Maynard Ave.
A campus-wide alert went out detailing the home invasion in which officials say still poses a concern and/or a continuing threat to the campus community because there have been reports of multiple home invasion robberies in the University District.
During the latest incident, police say a student from The Ohio State University, woke up to two men pointing guns at her. Police say the suspects bound her up with electrical cord and put her in the basement of the house.
It's believed the suspects broke in through a side window.
About a month ago, a similar incident took place at an off-campus house on W. Oakland Ave. During that incident, the OSU students said they answered a knock at the door and two suspects barged in at knife point.
It's not yet known if the two home invasions are related.
But students are taking extra precautions.
"We've started doing checks throughout all our windows," says OSU sophomore Dani Beckley.
There have only been vague descriptions of the suspects.
OSU's Public Safety Office is urging students to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity by calling Columbus Police at 614-645-4545.
