Columbus Deputy Police Chief Gets Head Job in Cincy
COLUMBUS (Ken Hines) -- Current Columbus Division of Police Deputy Chief Jeffrey Blackwell has been selected as the next chief of the Cincinnati Police Department.
Blackwell's selection was announced Friday by Cincinnati City Manager Milton Dohoney Jr., and comes after a national search that included several interviews.
"It's a wonderful opportunity when you're a police officer at my level," Blackwell said. "They're searching for good opportunities -- the type of policing I like to bring."
Blackwell, a 26 year Columbus police veteran, will begin his new job in Cincinnati on September 30. He has served as deputy chief in Columbus since 2009.
"Jeff understands that we have to work with the various communities we serve to build a culture of understanding and respect," Dohoney said.
