New Details Released in Fatal Hit and Run Accident
DELAWARE COUNTY (Kellie Hanna) -- The Delaware County Sheriff's department has released the search warrants related to the fatal hit skip accident of bicyclist 64-year-old Robert Lennon.
Lennon was hit and killed along Miller Paul Rd on Sunday September 15, 2013. The driver of the vehicle left the scene.
A sergeant from the Delaware County Sheriff's department was called to a home where a man said he needed to "discuss something" with him.
On Thursday September 19, 2013, the sergeant went to the home and that's when the man told him that his daughter had come home saying she had hit a deer on Sunday.
When the father went out to look at the 2005 gray Chrysler Sebring he noticed the damage wasn't consistent with damage that would have been sustained by hitting a deer.
The daughter, then, admitted to her father that she had hit someone on Miller Paul Road. The father also admitted to cutting the right half of the windshield off and dumping it at a business he owns.
ABC 6/FOX 28 is not releasing the names involved since no one has been charged yet in this case.
As friends and family members said goodbye to Lennon Thursday, investigators from the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Delaware County Sheriff's Department released new information Thursday about the search for the driver responsible for the man's death.
Evidence collected at the scene of the crash indicates that Lennon was struck from behind while riding or resting in a travel lane.
Troopers said Thursday the car that hit Lennon is dark gray with a broken windshield and heavy front-end damage, including a missing bumper.
Lennon, 64, spent more than 40 years at DeSales High School, where he worked as a science teacher and cross country coach. His funeral was held Thursday at the school.
