Police Find Athens Co. Father's Body in Well
GLOUSTER, Ohio (Ken Hines) -- Investigators have identified the body of a man found in a well outside his Athens County home, which had allegedly been vandalized by his son.
A search team comprised of members of several law enforcement agencies found the body of Paul E. Roberts in a well under his Locust St. home's back porch on October 21. A preliminary coroner's report identifies Roberts's cause of death as blunt force trauma.
City, county, and state investigators began searching for Roberts on October 19, after the victim's son, Paul J. Roberts, was arrested for allegedly vandalizing his father's home.
The younger Roberts, 40, is charged with felony vandalism, and is currently being held at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail on a $100,000 bail amount. His girlfriend is also in police custody due to a probation violation.
No charges have been filed in connection with Roberts's death, which is still under investigation.
Athens County Prosecutor Keller Blackburn expects to present the case to the Grand Jury on October 28.
