Man Accused of Using Young Nephew to Pull off E. Columbus Burglary
COLUMBUS (Ken Hines) -- An East Side man is facing a burglary charge after allegedly using his young nephew to gain access to a woman's apartment.
The victim -- who does not want to be identified -- told police she agreed to give a 9-year-old boy a ride to school on Wednesday at the request of his uncle, Mark Thomas, and realized during the trip that her purse had been stolen.
The victim said the school's principal confronted the boy about the stolen purse, at which time he admitted to the theft, and said he had also unlocked her patio door while inside her home to allow his uncle to enter the apartment during the trip to school.
The victim told ABC 6/FOX 28 she returned to her Lake Club Square home to find that it had been burglarized. Police soon found her stolen items inside Thomas's apartment.
Thomas appeared in court on Thursday where his bail amount was set at $1.5 million.
