Fairfield Co. Man Arraigned on Charges of Killing Mother of 5
FAIRFIELD COUNTY (Ken Hines) -- A man suspected of killing a mother of five has been charged with murder.
Scott Farringer appeared in front of a judge Friday, a day after he was arrested for the murder of his on-again, off-again girlfriend, Denise Haught, inside her Shell Beach Road home.
Officers found Haught's body while responding to a string of 911 calls made from the residence, during which witnesses reported a fight between Farringer and Haught.
"Her ol' man was there at 3 o'clock this morning -- her ex ol' man -- and they got into a fight," a caller told a dispatcher. "I seen blood on her hands."
Haught, 34, moved to the Shell Beach Road home in September, according to her mother, Donna. The victim lived at the residence with her brother and two of her five children.
At least two calls were made to 911 by the couple on prior occasions. During an August call, Farringer told a dispatcher he feared for the safety of the two children he shared with Haught.
In September, Haught called 911 to report that Farringer had struck her with his car. She told a dispatcher they had each filed for restraining orders, a claim prosecutors are now investigating.
"I got marks to prove it. He just took off," Haught said while describing the alleged incident. "We have a CPO on each other. He's out of my house."
A judge set Farringer's bail amount at $1 million on Friday. He has been barred from contact with any member of Haught's family, including his own children.
