Motorcycle from Fatal Franklin Co. Crash Reported Stolen
COLUMBUS (Ken Hines) -- A motorcycle involved in a crash that killed two people had been reported stolen by police, according to investigators.
The 2000 Yamaha motorcycle on which Jonathan Kelley was riding at the time of the fatal October 28 crash was reported stolen in May, according to Columbus police. Investigators have not provided details about any possible connection between Kelley and that theft report.
Kelley was one of two people killed when the motorcycle struck a Hyundai Sonata that was turning on to Albert Ave. from Westerville Road.
The motorcycle hit the Sonata on its front, passenger side door, fatally injuring Laquita Lewis, who was seated near the point of impact.
Lewis's sister, Nikitesha, 19, was driving the Sonata at the time of the crash, and suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Kelley, 29, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
