ABC 6/FOX 28 Puts Healthcare.gov to the Test
COLUMBUS (Chris Vanocur/Ken Hines) -- As members of Congress demand answers from the operators of the faulty Obamacare website, ABC 6/FOX 28's Chris Vanocur decided to find out, first hand, what all the fuss is about.
Vanocur attempted to make his way through the now-infamous site on Thursday, and found that highly-publicized reports of glitches are all too true.
First, Vanocur's attempt to create a username and password required several attempts before success was finally achieved. Then, the site repeatedly failed to verify Vanocur's answers to required security questions.
Those answers were eventually accepted, but that bit of good news was followed by, what's become known as, the site's spinning wheel of death.
Vanocur watched the wheel spin for quite some time, but his patience only resulted in an error message reading, "Important. Your account couldn't be created at this time. The system is unavailable."
Vanocur then sought help through the site's live chat feature, and was informed by an apologetic worker named Brenda that technical difficulties had doomed his attempt to find insurance through the site.
While Vanocur was unable to shop for coverage via the healthcare.gov site, Brenda pointed out that he, and others who experience similar problems, have the option of applying for insurance over the phone.
