Hilliard Mom Surprises Kids After Returning from Air Force Duty
HILLIARD (Lu Ann Stoia/Ken Hines) -- Twin fourth grade girls entered a bustling school cafeteria for lunch Tuesday, and soon spotted their mom, an air force nurse who surprised them after several months away from home.
Jill Dixon returned to Hilliard after serving six months in Cargistan, and immediately engaged in an emotional reunion with her daughters, Brianna and Alayna, at Beacon Elementary School.
Being away from my family was hard," Jill said. "But taking care of the troops was really great.
The twins are the youngest of Jill's six children, four of whom are grown.
I thought I was dreaming when I saw her, I tried pinching myself, Brianna said, before Alayna added, "I am so proud of my mom. I brag about her all the time.
Upon her return, Jill presented her daughters' school with a flag that was flown on a combat refueling mission.
People who look at it should see it as a symbol of freedom, and a reminder of those who died for it.
