Man Running Cross-Country for Disease Awareness Passes Through Columbus
COLUMBUS (Ashley Yore/Ken Hines) -- A man running across the country to bring awareness to the battle against a rare brain disease passed through central Ohio Tuesday.
Noah Coughlan is running from California to Boston to honor children fighting Batten's Disease, a genetic brain disorder that currently affects hundreds of people in the U.S.
Jan Betz was among those cheering for Coughlan as he made his way through Columbus. Betz's granddaughter, Celia, passed away two years ago after battling Battens Disease.
She would want to be in there riding along with him, that's what she would think, and she would be smiling and loving it every minute, Betz said.
Coughlan will cover more than 3000 miles during his 106 day trip, which will wrap up in Boston in mid-November.
