Construction Crews to Finish Olentangy River Project

COLUMBUS (Andrew Michael) -- The river reconstruction along the Olentangy River is almost complete after the Fifth Avenue dam was removed a year ago.

The project aimed to create a more natural flow through the campus area.

Construction crews are expected to continue to narrow the banks Near Lane Avenue until the end of the month. Trees and other plants are to be added along the new riverbank throughout the winter.

Crews are then scheduled to head downtown.

The Main Street dam is expected to be demolished in about three weeks, followed by a two-year project to re-create narrower banks through downtown.

The narrower banks will allow for more land for riverfront parks.
