Number of Ohio Concealed Carry Permits Rising Significantly

COLUMBUS (Ken Hines) -- Newly released statistics show a significant rise in the number of concealed carry licenses granted to Ohioans.

More than 30,000 concealed carry licenses were issued in the state during the third quarter of 2013, according to Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine, nearly doubling the amount granted during the same period in 2012.

Of the 32,618 licenses issued in this year's third quarter, 18,705 were new. The 13,913 renewal licenses represent an increase of more than 10,000 from the previous year.

The total number of concealed carry licenses issued through the first nine months of 2013 (82,186) has already eclipsed the amounts reached in each year of the statute's decade-long existence. The previous high of 64,650 was set in 2012.
