DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY: Great Gadget Deals Beyond Black Friday

COLUMBUS (John Matarese) -- "Black Friday" shopping poses a holiday dilemma to those who want to get the best deals, but don't want to ruin their holiday.

Millions of Americans have cut short their Thanksgiving dinner to wait in line for that new television, tablet or toy. But with the exception of a few door-busters, the day is not necessarily the best time to buy certain gadgets.

For this reason, Andrea Deckard, a nationally known mommy blogger with money-saving tips, refuses to shop during this year's early Black Friday.

Deckard, who writes for Lifestyle.com, said she will not be missing out on much.

One of the hottest Thanksgiving Day sales, for example, is Walmart's free $100 gift card for those who buy an iPad mini. Deckard, however, said customers could get a similar discount later.

"It's not something I am willing to wait in line on Thanksgiving for, and I do imagine they are going to have something like that leading up to Christmas," she said.

The website Dealnews.com agrees, stating that the Sunday after Black Friday as well as the next weekend could offer gadget prices almost as low.

To find the best deals, Deckard's smartphone is loaded with savings apps, from price comparison apps like "Red Laser" to store apps like Target's "Cartwheel."

Additionally, Deckard said she watches Amazon.com, which will match many of the best gadget deals offered at other stores.

The only items Deckard said shoppers should have to wait in line for are the new PS4 and Xbox One -- but they shouldn't expect deals.

Prices are expected to come down on older game consoles, however, right until Christmas.

Deckard said she will now be shopping for Thanksgiving dinner, and plans to spend it at home with her family.
