Former Columbus Police Officer Arrested for Threatening Attorney
COLUMBUS (Maria Durant) -- A former Columbus Police officer was arrested last night by Columbus Swat officer.
Steven Dean was arrested in Gus northeast side home Wednesday night. He was charged with aggravated menacing after threatening his attorney Mark Collins.
Police records say at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Dean called his attorney about a pending case. The conversation started out calm, until the following statements were exchanged:
Dean: You dont want to upset me today. Today is not the day.
Collins: Ill be courteous and professional to you.
Dean: Shut your mouth and dont interrupt me.
Collins: Dont talk to me that way.
Dean: If you dont do what I want I will come down there with a gun and shoot you or a knife and stab you.
The suspect allegedly hung up, only to call back to tell Collins he was fired, according to the police report.
Inside Deans home, police seized 20 guns, including rifles, shotguns and semiautomatic weapons.
Dean resigned from Columbus Police last year.
Chief Kim Jacobs wrote in his personnel file that Dean did not leave in good standings.
Dean is expected to appear in court Friday morning for his arraignment.
