Delaware Co. Residents Vote for New Outlet Mall

BERKSHIRE TOWNSHIP (Kelsey Mallahan/Kate Liebers/Tom Bosco) -- Residents voted Tuesday to approve a plan to build an outlet mall in Delaware County.

The narrow vote -- separated by only 25 votes (576 for, 551 against) -- approved a referendum on the zoning change to make way for a Tanger Outlet Mall at the intersection of Interstate-71 and State Rout 37.

Mall supporters wanted to see the millions of dollars and jobs they expected the mall will bring. Opponents didn't want to experience the traffic, noise and crime they claim would follow the mall.
