Family of 5 Escapes Burning NE Columbus Home with 3 Dogs

COLUMBUS (Ken Hines) -- Five family members were able to save themselves -- and their three dogs -- when a fire ignited at their home on Tuesday morning.

The family was able to escape the burning N. Ferris Park Dr. home when an adult occupant heard a fire alarm, and awakened his wife and three children. No one was hurt as a result of the fire.

Crews from the Columbus Division of Fire, as well as the Mifflin and Clinton Township departments, extinguished the flames less than an hour after their arrival.

Red Cross volunteers are attempting to secure living accommodations for the family members and their pets.

Investigators are examining the house in order to determine the cause of the fire, which is believed to have started in the attic.
