Last Minute Push To Inform Parents About Columbus Schools Levy

COLUMBUS (Tara Morgan) -- A last minute push to get parents to understand what's at stake with the controversial school levy vote.

The group Citizens Against 50 & 51 held a town hall meeting Monday night at Bethel A.M.E. church to discuss the issues.

"At this point, I'm just concerned about where the funding is actually going to go towards and how it's going to benefit my kids," said parent Marvis McGowen.

McGowen says he sought out high performing schools for his children but worries about the impact on his nieces and nephews and his neighbor's children.

"With all due respect to the school board and Columbus City Schools and charter schools we need to hold people accountable it's been said that's what they're doing but hasn't really panned out," said McGowen.

The superintendent told ABC6/FOX28 the district would have to cut 50 million if the school levy doesn't pass.
