Hilliard Man Witnesses Chaos While Boarding Flight at LAX
COLUMBUS (Tara Morgan) -- A man describes the chaos he witnessed during a 30 minute layover at LAX during a shooting spree.
Michael Kent, of Hilliard, returned to Port Columbus Friday night after a brief stop in Los Angeles.
During his layover, Kent witnessed passengers flooding into his terminal from Terminal 3 where the deadly shooting happened that morning.
"There were hundreds of people spilling off out of Terminal 1 onto the tarmac so there were people running across the tarmac hundreds of them with their luggage some without their luggage," said Kent.
Kent, a comedian and magician, was returning home from a show in Texas.
He says alarms sounded as he boarded his flight, but no one knew what was going on until they were able to log onto the internet.
"I guess we just felt fortunate I feel awful for the people who were involved I can't imagine they're just in the wrong place wrong time," said Kent.
The frequent flyer is now left to wonder what security will be like for his next flight.
"I don't think it changes anything in terms the way I feel about safety this is one of those incidents you're not going to be able to stop the occasional person from being crazy and doing something like this unfortunately," said Kent.
We tried to reach out to TSA about the future of airport security, but haven't heard back.
