Police Arrest Alleged Serial Robber During E. Columbus Break-In

COLUMBUS (Ken Hines) -- Police put an end to a day-long crime spree when they caught a suspect allegedly attempting to rob his former roommate.

Police arrested Jason Ladwig at approximately 10:15 p.m. Wednesday during a suspected break-in at a home on Seymour Avenue. The arrest marked the end of a string of at least three robberies that began early that morning at a Columbus Tim Horton's where the suspect was employed.

Detectives believe Ladwig then robbed a UDF on Sunbury and Morse roads in Northeast Columbus, before striking again at Walmart on E. Main Street in Whitehall.

Witnesses told police Ladwig claimed to be carrying a gun during the UDF and Walmart robberies, but did not display a weapon during either crime.

"I am a nervous wreck. A nervous wreck. Never in my life have I experienced anything like this, but it happened to me," said Floree Smith, a Walmart clerk allegedly held up by Ladwig.

Police have released few details about Ladwig's arrest, but have stated that he used to live with the victim of his final robbery attempt.
