OWU Basketball Player Talks About Recovery and Returning to the Court

DELAWARE (Tara Morgan) -- An Ohio Wesleyan University basketball player returns to the game after being hit by a police car.

21 year old Caroline Welker took part in a two day tournament after recovering from a concussion.

Welker was hit by a Delaware police officer early Thanksgiving morning at the intersection of Sandusky and Central.

"I just couldn't see him and he obviously didn't see me but it really makes you realize how careful you need to be when you're driving," said Welker.

Welker says she rested her body and brain in the weeks after so she could return to doing what she loves.

"It is a little nerve racking I don't want to hit my head or go to hard but I'm fine now," said Welker.

An inspiration to her coach and team.

"I think it proved the strength of what it takes to play at this level of a college athlete," said Stacey Lobdell, OWU head coach.

The officer pleaded guilty to failing to yield and paid a fine.
