Father of Sandy Hook Victim Testifies in Favor of Ohio Gun Safety Law

COLUMBUS (Chris Vanocur) -- The father of a child killed at Sandy Hook Elementary testified Tuesday before an Ohio legislative committee.

Mark Barden traveled from Connecticut to urge Ohio lawmakers to pass a new gun safety bill.

Barden's 7-year-old son, Daniel, was one of the 26 people killed during the Newtown, Conn. massacre last year.

He urged the committee to pass House Bill 31, which would require guns to be safely stored when children are around.

Barden said a law like this might have saved his son's life.

On Saturday, the one-year anniversary of the school shooting, Barden said he will be with his family in quiet reflection.
