Would-Be Thieves Caught Breaking Into Clintonville-Area Storage Unit

COLUMBUS (Ken Hines) -- Police hope to find a group of thieves who fled after they were caught breaking into a central Ohio storage unit early Wednesday morning.

Officers discovered the attempted theft while patrolling the Simply Storage facility at 810 Cooke Road at approximately 3:30 a.m.

The group of would-be thieves scattered when approached by the officers, who were not able to apprehend any of the suspects, most of whom ran toward nearby railroad tracks.

One person who was taken into custody near the tracks was quickly released after questioning.

Police were patrolling the storage facility due to a recent spike of break-ins in the area. Approximately 70 such crimes have been reported near Simply Storage over the past several days.
