IIHS Names Top Safety Pics for 2014 Vehicles

COLUMBUS (Ken Hines) -- The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has released its lists of the safest vehicles for 2014.

For the second time, the institute (IIHS) released two Top Safety Pick lists, with vehicles designated as Top Safety Pick receiving recognition for the inclusion of systems that provide warnings or automatic braking to prevent front-to-back crashes.

"Consumers who want both crash prevention technology and the latest in occupant protection have a fair number of vehicles to choose from," IIHS President Adrian Lund said. "We hope manufacturers will continue to incorporate front crash prevention, developing more robust systems and adding them to more trim levels or, better yet, making them standard equipment."

Honda was the most honored auto-maker for 2014, with six models (including Acuras) receiving the Top Safety Pick designation, and two being named Top Safety Picks.
