Frozen Floodwaters Could Displace La Rue Residents for Months

LA RUE (Jen French) -- It could be months before people who lived in a retirement village can return home after Sundays floods.

Pauline Pelfrey is one of the 36 who were forced to leave the Kiwanis Retirement Village when high waters took over. Nearly a week later, on Friday, people were able to return to their homes and salvage what was left.

"A bunch of the family has been coming and helping her move out and everything," said Brittany Pelfrey, Paulines granddaughter.

Residents were allegedly told they can move in within three to four months, but some have their doubts.

According to the Red Cross, as many as 120 homes in the La Rue area have been affected by the flood.
