Man Escapes Burning East Columbus Home

COLUMBUS (Ken Hines) -- A man was hospitalized for smoke inhalation but avoided serious injuries when he escaped his burning East Side home early Monday morning.

The victim's Richmond Avenue home caught fire at approximately 2:30 a.m. due to an undetermined cause.

The occupant was able to escape the home before fire fighters made it to the scene, and was quickly transported to a Columbus hospital. Crews extinguished the fire soon after their arrival.

Arson investigators are examining the remnants of the home to determine the cause of the fire.
