GDC's Pete Scalia Recovers from Hip Surgery

COLUMBUS (Terri Sullivan) -- Ten days after undergoing double hip replacement surgery, "Good Day Columbus" anchor Pete Scalia is mobile again.

ABC 6 caught up with Scalia Thursday during his second physical therapy session as he worked on a stationary bike.

"I'm doing alright," Scalia said. "I'm up and moving and that's the best thing that I can be doing."

The progress has been slow but steady. Two weeks ago, he could barely move at all.

"I was practically immobile," Scalia said. "So being able to move at all, and post-surgery pain compared to what I was going through before is quite honestly nothing."

The physical therapy is challenging, but he said support from friends, family and viewers has helped him push through the obstacles.

If you want to drop Pete a note or get well card, send it to the station at 1261 Dublin Rd., Columbus, Ohio, 43215.
