Food Banks Seek Donations, Volunteers
GROVE CITY (Maria Durant) -- Cuts to food stamp programs have meant more people are going hungry this year, and local food banks are struggling to keep the shelves stocked.
Church on the Rise's Richard Hite said he would not be able to feed people in his congregation without the area food agencies.
"The older people are on fixed incomes," Hite said. "The younger people lost their jobs and have families."
The Mid-Ohio Food Bank helped stock more than 40 agencies, passing out more than 125 pounds of food, yet the need is always present.
MOFB communication manager Yolanda Owens encouraged people who can to advocate, donate or volunteer.
A little help can go a long way, she said.
"I know there's going to be people having supper tonight," Owens said.
