Firefighters Rescue Man from Burning Gahanna Home

GAHANNA (Ken Hines) -- Firefighters scaled a ladder to rescue a man from the second floor of a burning home early Thursday morning.

Fire crews arrived at the Arcano Drive home at approximately 2 a.m. and battled the blaze for approximately 40 minutes before extinguishing the flames. Firefighters then worked for another 45 minutes to stifle remaining hot spots.

A woman inside the home when the fire started was able to escape on her own, but her male companion became trapped on the second floor. The man was pulled from a window by firefighters soon after their arrival, and was hospitalized for smoke inhalation.

Investigators are examining the home to determine the cause of the fire, which resulted in an estimated $150,000 in damages.
