Bail Set for Franklinton Man Accused of Raping, Cutting Throat of Victim

COLUMBUS (Ken Hines) -- A man accused of raping a woman and cutting her throat inside a Franklinton apartment appeared in court Wednesday morning.

A Franklin County judge set a $1.5 million bail amount for Sean Daniel, who is charged with rape and felonious assault in connection with the attack, which occurred Monday on Rich Street, according to police.

Investigators have accused Daniel of threatening to kill the victim before cutting her throat and raping her. The attack allegedly continued for several hours.

Police were alerted to the alleged assault by employees at an undisclosed hospital where the victim received treatment after being dropped off by an unknown person.

Court documents show that Daniel, 45, lives at the apartment where the rape occurred. His connection to the victim has not been publicly disclosed by police.

The victim's neck lacerations required surgery, which was performed Tuesday at a Columbus hospital. The woman also suffered broken bones during the attack.
