Scioto Co. Mother Allegedly Stabs Teenage Daughter

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Ken Hines) -- Investigators believe a Scioto County mother tried to murder her teenage daughter by stabbing her in the back Monday morning.

Deputies arrested Angela Shepherd after finding her wounded 13-year-old daughter at the family's Swauger Valley Road home at approximately 11:30 a.m. Authorities believe Shepherd, 42, was trying to kill her daughter during the assault.

A Portsmouth County judge set Shepherd's bail amount at $100,000 shortly after her arrest. Her next court date is scheduled for December 19.

The young victim is listed in stable condition at an undisclosed Columbus hospital. Anyone with information about the crime is encouraged to contact the Scioto County Sheriff's Office at 740-354-7566.
