Toys For Tots Asks for Monetary Donations

COLUMBUS (Maria Durant) -- The US Marine Corps Marines Toys for Tots drive has collected many donations so far, but is still looking for monetary contributions.

"Central Ohio has been very gracious, but we still need toys," Gunnery Sgt. Ralph E. Grimes said. "The best way to help now, at this point, I would ask for financial donations so I can go out and purchase the exact toys we need.

The drive kicked off last Saturday at ABC6/FOX28 studios on Dublin Road, and continued Friday at Rickenbacker Airport on John Cir Drive.

Grimes said they have about 80 different requests from different non-profit groups and agencies -- some of which are very large orders.

My largest order is for 4,600 toys," Grimes said. "And thats just one request.

The Marines said they are doing everything they can to fulfill the orders and give children a merrier Christmas.
