Bride-To-Be Struggles to Get Wedding Refund after Fiancee Dies

COLUMBUS (Tara Morgan) --  A wedding is cancelled after the groom dies now the bride is struggling to get a refund from a vendor she says isn't being very supportive.

Cassie Kelsey and Adam Schneider were planning a wedding for next summer when Schneider died in September.

Schneider was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension at age 12.

"Losing him was unimaginable but I had to say goodbye to the future we planned together," said Kelsey.

She's had to ask vendors for refunds on her deposits.  Kelsey says all but one has been supportive.

Valley Dale Ballroom only offered to refund just a third of her nearly $3,000 deposit and to put the rest toward a future event.

In a letter to Kelsey, Grand Events stated it wasn't a moral issue but one of mitigating a financial loss from a cancellation.

"I don't want this money for myself I plan giving it all to the Schneiders Adam's family needs it," said Kelsey.

Kelsey's contract was fully non-refundable with the company.
