Companies Offer to Decorate Homes for Holidays
COLUMBUS (Terri Sullivan/Kate Liebers) -- Some companies have made a business out of relieving homeowners from their holiday decoration duties.
For example, "Christmas Decor," a franchise established in 1996, offers to decorate homes for a price based on the property.
"There are a lot of inherit problems associated with Christmas lights," design manager Andy Russell said. "Anyone who is ever done them any scale on their house knows that. Our job is to take the hassle out of that. So they give us a call, we set up a time to meet them, come up with the design. They pick what works for them and then everything else is up to us: installation, service, take down and storage."
Christmas Decor reported they are now approaching their busiest time of the season, having already completed 60 to 80 decorating jobs around the Columbus area.
The cost of this service depends on the property, and the job is dependent on the weather.
"Putting it up obviously is very time-consuming," Russell said. "But when they take it down after the New Year, a lot of times the workers are battling really cold weather."
Premier Christmas Lights and Holiday Highlights have also advertised their services in Central Ohio.
Interested customers are advised to ask if the service includes return visits in case a light burns out or a strand comes undone, for example.
