Subway Robber Still At Large

COLUMBUS (Kate Liebers) -- Police have asked for the public's help in locating a man suspected of robbing a Subway in East Columbus.

The man reportedly ordered a sub and, when the sandwich was made, placed his hand inside his front jacket pocket to imply he had a gun, according to Columbus Police Department.

The suspect threatened to shoot the employee and demanded money from the register. The clerk complied, after which the suspect grabbed money from the register and fled eastbound on foot.

The incident occurred around 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at the franchise's 2910 E. Main St. location.

Police described the suspect as a middle-aged black man with a stocky build, who was wearing a dark blue zip-up hoodie and a scarlet and gray cap. He is believed to be nearly 7 feet tall and about 250 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Columbus Police Robbery Unit at 614-645-4665. Persons wishing to remain anonymous may contact Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS (8477).
