Man Arrested after Christmas Crime Spree in Columbus

COLUMBUS -- Columbus police said the man they arrested after a Christmas crime spree has made a tradition out of the holiday burglaries.

Jeffrey Maxey faced a judge Thursday in connection to a recent burglary, but officers said he will likely face additional charges.

Most recently, Maxey allegedly broke into a man's home while the resident was asleep.

The suspect fled when the resident awoke, leaving the scene in a stolen vehicle. Police eventually apprehended the man after a chase.

Maxey has a history of theft and stolen property charges. He was convicted of at least one of these charges every year between 2007 and 2011.

He had been in jail before allegedly committing more thefts this year. Police say he could be linked to 11 more break-ins and two more car thefts.
