Driver Fatally Hits Son Who Fell Out of Minivan in Union County

UNION COUNTY, Ohio (Ken Hines/Kate Liebers) -- Investigators have released the name of the child who died after falling out of his father's minivan Thursday morning.

Four-year-old Angel Gustbabo Hernandez reportedly fell out of the van on Brock Road at approximately 11 a.m., and was struck by the vehicle. The child was pronounced dead at Dublin Methodist Hospital.

The driver was the boy's father, 30-year-old Natividad de Jesus Hernandez, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol of Marysville. Troopers said the man had just pulled away from a construction site when the boy fell from the vehicle.

Troopers said the boy was not in a child safety or booster seat.

The driver stayed with the child until medics arrived to provide assistance, and then drove away in the van, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol investigator Lt. Molly Clemens.

Investigators located the van and the alleged driver approximately three hours after the boy was killed.

Hernandez was charged with leaving the scene of an accident. Authorities said he could face additional charges.
